How MM to PX for Excel Works
Enter the measurement
Type the width or height in millimeters that you need for an image, shape, or cell dimension.
Screen resolution is 96 PPI
Excel renders at the Windows default of 96 PPI. Shapes and images use this for pixel calculations.
Get pixels and points
The output shows both pixel and point values — helpful for VBA macros and precise shape sizing.
Excel uses screen coordinates based on 96 PPI for object positioning and sizing. When you insert an image or draw a shape, its dimensions are stored in points (1 pt = 1/72 in) but rendered at screen pixel density. Converting millimeters to pixels at 96 PPI gives you the correct screen size. The accompanying point value (mm × 72 ÷ 25.4) is useful when working with VBA or the Format Shape dialog.
MM to PX for Excel Formula
px = mm × (96 ÷ 25.4) Conversion Formula Excel's display engine uses 96 PPI. The point equivalent is calculated as pt = mm × 72 ÷ 25.4, since there are 72 points per inch.
